“Momma I’m coming home”

Well…I’m tired, I miss my wife, my dogs, my friends, am a bit homesick (rugby is not a substitute for some good ol’ American football!!!!), tired of hearing “Tak Tahan Lagi” playing on the tape deck (so what that I have it on repeat….it is the only “decent” song on the tape), and a Toyota Kijang IS NOT a GTO.

I’ll be home Sunday afternoon from Indonesia and I have alot of TV/sports on the DVR to catch up on…

Not sure I’ll write much more. I’ve said it all before. See the related posts links below if you have forgotten…

If I remember, I will at least post a link to “Tak Tahan Lagi” on here so you can all suffer too. If you are bored, search for it on YouTube.

Tasha’s Gradumacated!

On August 11, Tasha finally finished what she started back in August 1998. After 9 long years going to school part-time with a few semesters off here and there, working, changing majors, and putting up with me, she has finished her degree from the University of North Texas!

She is now (or working to be) an early childhood interventionist. I know it sounds like someone who gathers a young child’s friends and family for a surprise meeting and tries to get young kids off heroin and into rehab or something, but it isn’t. I think if I tried to explain it to you right now, I might bog you down with my horrible explanation instead of getting to the real point I am trying to make with this post…so just ask her. She will tell you all about it.

I am so proud of Tasha. I think if I had ever stopped going to school even once, I would have never gone back. She didn’t just stop once, she did it twice…I think. It might have been 3 times. Either way, it really takes someone special to stick with something for so long and see it through. But I knew she would do it….after all, she has stuck with me longer than she did college ;). I love you babe! You RULE!

The Sakura Lounge in the Tokyo Narita airport has the coolest machine! You take a glass and put it on a stand. Press the magic button and it tilts the glass, gently pours in a half glass of beer, tilts the glass back to the original position and fills the glass to about 3/4 full. Then the stand shifts the glass and positions it beneath another nozzle where it adds a bit of head to it. Once it has filled the glass, it again shifts it into position for you to remove the glass and enjoy the frosty beverage. I think I will go try to find a make and model number!

You may be wondering what the hell I am doing in Japan. It is just a layover on what is yet another trip to Indonesia. It will be much like my previous trips except this time I get 1 full day in Bali before heading off to the job site. More fresh seafood, cheap DVDs, etc…

I will try to do a few updates while I am over on this site of the world, so stay tuned…

I will be home and ready for celebration just in time for Tasha’s graduation.

This movie had an absolutely horrible story. Incredible acting, crap story. The whole cast did a great job at convincing you they are frickin’ nut balls, but whoever wrote this movie and convinced these actors to sign on, should be banned from Hollywood. Following the blessed end to this movie (blessed because it was finally over!) the entire audience in the theatre were laughing about how ridiculous this movie was and why they wasted time and money watching this.

I almost feel that my time spent screening some of the really crappy movies I had to screen as a projectionist was time better spent.

Hell, I rarely ever review a movie on here, but the mere fact that I am writing about this one should demonstrate just how bad it was.

Oh and BTW, the Grapevine AMC 30 up here charge $9/ticket for an evening show! That isn’t too big a difference really, especially if you are already at the mall and planning to watch an evening show. However, when you are planning to watch a 4:30 movie (assumed to be a $7 matinee) and their evening times start at 4pm on weekends, it will make you laugh at the cashier, walk off, and spend less than half that difference in gas (ok, maybe just a bit more than half…we were in the GTO ;)) driving to another theatre chain. That will be the last time I consider AMC. I will stick with Cinemark and the Denton Movie Tavern from now on for reasonable ticket prices ($5.50 and $4 respectively for shows before 6pm)!

I am really getting annoyed with restaurants…

Why is it that every place we go that has sweetener on the table, it is damp and clumpy. I sure hope it is damp and clumpy from someone leaving it next to a humidifier overnight and not from an hourly drenching of cleansers and disinfectants used to clean the tables. Or perhaps the box it came in was sitting on the floor in the kitchen as they mopped away the daily grime while not caring that the box of sweetener was getting soaked with who-knows-what. I know I really don’t want to know the answer and it never really bothered me before when it would happen at 1 in every 5 or 10 restaurants. But now, it seems that it is like that everywhere, even the brand new chain by our house that has only been open for a week!

Maybe the disinfectant drenched sweetener disinfects my insides

Perhaps I should keep a box of sweetener in each car, but then how thirsty will I be? Will I need 2 packets or 10 packets?

I guess I just don’t undersand what is so hard about keeping products that should remain dry….dry…

Maybe I should collect packets, label them, and send them off to some lab for testing. Then sell the story to a news agency.

Absense DOES make the heart grow fonder…

Now this won’t be some sappy post about how much I love my wife (which is immeasurable by the way ). Although I’m sure she would love that.

No, this is about a longing you feel only when deprived of the pavement pounding, rubber burning, gas guzzling, adrenaline pumping acceleration that gives you that SEG (shit eating grin) every time you tap the right pedal of the 400 hp beast known as the 2005 GTO.

After 3 1/2 weeks of being gone to Indonesia and doing basically no driving, I almost forgot how much fun my Goat is to drive…the key word there is ALMOST! I was itching to get back to that sweet, sweet, rumbling Torrid Red monster.

Since I have been back the past 2 weeks, I think I have sat in Tasha’s car maybe 2 times. Its not that her car isn’t nice. I just can’t say no to the GTO begging me to stretch her long legs after 3 1/2 weeks without any “exercise”. The only day she saw sunlight for the time I was gone was on the day Tasha took her in to get the windows tinted (thanks again honey!).

I went back today and read my post that has the Autoextremist review of the 2005 GTO and after having the car for 2 years, I still think this article is spot on! The juice is DEFINITELY worth the squeeze!

It is a shame that the current generation GTO production has stopped. I can only hope the next generation invokes the same feelings in anyone that has the privilege to drive one. Long live the Goat!
