Texas Longhorns Smelling Roses!

Mack Brown FINALLY gets his first BCS bid!

Well, the chips fell Texas’ way and the BCS let Texas join the party! Poor Cal gets left out…

Hopefully, this year generates enough controversy to re-vamp the BCS system into a playoff system, but I serioulsy doubt it. My BCS wish list is for either a playoff or no longer giving the BCS conference winners automatic bids (but I doubt this one will happen).

Our Christmas Lists

It doesn’t get any easier than this! To make it easier on everyone, I am publishing my Christmas wish list here. The website that manages this list below is just like an online gift registry. Just click on the item you bought and choose the link to say that you bought it. This means it will eliminate the fear of duplicate gifts and me trying to strategically divide up one list to multiple people.

As I add items, the list will update automatically. If you have any questions, let me know…

The College Football BCS Mess…

For those of you up to date in college football, you know that it is possible that for the 2nd straight year, Texas may be left out of the BCS mix due to automatic bids for the conference champions, despite their #5 BCS ranking each year. This means that unranked, 7-3 Pitt will likley get an automatic BCS bid for winning their conference, but the #5 team in the country gets left behind. We can only hope the voters see this and give Texas enough votes to surpass Cal in the BCS…

The case for a college football playoff gets stronger each year as the BCS continues to foul up something. Either go to a playoff system or get rid of the automatic bids for conference champions. There is no reason that an unranked team should get a trip to one of the top 4 bowls. The objective of the BCS should be to pair up the top 8 teams in the country for 4 exciting games instead of being some convoluted system for promotion of the large conferences…

Maybe one day someone will realize we need a system that promotes a good college football postseason instead of rewarding undeserving teams, penalizing strong conferences for having multiple powerhouse teams, and that penalizes teams equally for losses no matter when in the season the loss takes place. Teams who lose late in the season should be not be penalized more than a team who loses early in the season.

Maybe one season we can beat OU and not have to deal with this in the first place so they can be the ones dealing with this mess….ahhh a Longhorn fan can dream, right?

The Aggies have me scared…

Well, today is the annual showdown between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies. Reggie McNeil is a great talent and the way they played Oklahoma, I am a bit worried about today’s game. Vince Young and Cedric Benson are a great running attack, but Vince has scared me many times this season with his passing…

We had a great time at the Cowboys game yesterday. The halftime show with Destiny’s Child wasn’t half bad either.

Pit Bulls…Are THEY the problem?

Tasha found this link today in a magazine and thought I should watch it…

After watching it, I felt I should share this with everyone. As most of you know, we have an American Staffordshire Terrier named Jester (most people will call him a pit bull) and when we got him, many people gasped and thought we were crazy for wanting such a mean, evil dog. After researching the breed, educating ourselves about all the urban legends, and knowing a couple of Pits, we were more than excited about getting him. Jester has been nothing but a great dog for the 11 months of his life and everyone who meets him agrees…

Spread this to all the people you know that spread misinformation about these dogs. The link is below and please note the disclaimer…
